PARTS OF THE DOOR

Before cleaning your door remove all rings, watches and bracelets!

Door leaf
Cleaning - keep the grime and grit away with warm soapy water, (not washing up liquid), and wipe with a soft cloth: never use bleach!

Door frame
Cleaning - wash with warm soapy water.
Finishing - stubborn stains demand a specialised uPVC cleaner.

External glass
Cleaning - wash with warm soapy water with a soft cloth.
Finishing - finish with a proprietary glass cleaner.

Leaded glass
Cleaning - wash with warm soapy water.
Finishing - finish with a proprietary glass cleaner (oxidation will naturally occur over time).

Hardware (handles, knockers)
Cleaning - take a clean cloth and warm water with a mild detergent, then simply wipe clean to a shine.

MAINTAINING YOUR DOOR

Protect your door from natural thermal distortion. Always make sure the top and bottom locking points are engaging by pulling the handle up every time you shut your door!

Hinges
Cleaning - keep them at their best by lubricating with a little light engineering oil e.g., 3 in 1.

Cylinder locks
Cleaning - need lubricating with a Teflon based lubricant. WD40 is also good for this.

Hardware (handles, knockers)
Cleaning - just add a touch of light engineering oil on all moving parts.
Finishing - they’re sensitive so don’t use oil or graphite powder. This is especially important if you live near coastal areas.

CAUTION DO NOT USE:

  • Washing up liquid or detergents including bleach, solvents (spirits and thinners) or adhesives

  • Abrasive cleaners or scouring pads

  • High pressure or steam cleaners

POLITE AND

FRIENDLY
